About Me

As a child, I enjoyed writing and illustrating my own “books” creating fanciful stories I could read like library books. I’m still creating stories, or rather, letting the story of a piece of artwork unfold. Even the materials I use – old letters, text from books, antique photos, vintage magazine images, old, unpicked quilts and found objects – have layers of stories to them: Who held this book and wrote in the margins? What was the relationship of the letter writer to the receiver? What is the significance of the different fabrics in this vintage quilt?

To me, collage and mixed media are perfect ways to bring disparate items into one whole in order to tell a new story. Sometimes, I have an idea before I begin a new piece, but just as often, I pull out different materials, combine and move them around, until a concept finds me.

While I’ve been making art for a long while, taking classes in various mixed media techniques over the years and studying what I could learn from books and practice, I only started sharing my art publicly in very recent years. I am an actively involved member of Artists United Club of South King County and the Northwest Collage Society and participate in their exhibits and shows.
